Invited guest lecture in Prof. Holli A. Semetko’s course “Media, Technology and Politics in Comparative Perspective” at Emory University, Atlanta, GA, USA. The talk primarily focused on my co-authorerd research on verified individuals who reported potentially illegal content in Germany – examining how they differ from the general population in demographics, political profiles and attitudes, social media experiences, and looking at their motivations to report. A brief U.S. – Germany comparison was included to contextualize how the German setting differs from the U.S.
This talk was part of the series Behind the Scenes – Conversations on Empirical Platform Governance Research that invites scholars in this field to share their experiences and views, fostering community exchange about how we can study platform governance in this challenging context. It is hosted by the Lab “Platform Governance, Media, and Technology” (PGMT) at the Centre for Media, Communication and Information Research (ZeMKI), University of Bremen, and the Centre for Media and Journalism Studies, University of Groningen.
